Church of the Epiphany Presents 4th Annual Festival of Open Sings: Fauré, Vivaldi, Mozart, Brahms Wednesdays in July. Let’s get together to sing and play some wonderful music, while raising funds and awareness for some great causes. At Open Sings, singers and instrumentalists gather at 7 p.m. for a 45-minute rehearsal. A representative from the evening’s charity will then talk to us about their projects for only about 5 minutes and then we have refreshments. Finally, everyone returns to the sanctuary and we sing straight through without stopping. It’s not so much a performance as it is a chance to sing through some really great music together.
July 2 - Fauré Requiem - to benefit CARE, the international relief organization
July 9 - Vivaldi Gloria - to benefit Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity
July 16 - Mozart Requiem - to benefit the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill
July 23 - Mozart Coronation Mass - to benefit Doctors Without Borders
July 30 - Brahms Requiem (in English) - to benefit City House
We suggest a $10 donation (it’s completely voluntary), and every dime goes to the charity of the evening. Singers can bring their own scores or borrow them at the door. We have all the orchestral parts and music stands. We invite musicians of all ages. This all takes place at Church of the Epiphany, 4900 Nathan Lane N , Plymouth - just west of US-169 at the 49th Avenue exit. There’s no experience required. Lots of the musicians there will have done these pieces before, but many will be doing them for the first time. All are welcome. For more information, contact: John Hoffacker, Music Director, at 612 850-9208.
